Estate Sale FAQ's and Info

Do you charge for a consultation ?

No - there is no charge for an initial consultation and evaluation.

How much do you charge ?

Our commission is based on the scope of the sale. We do not quote fees before looking at the sale.

I have firearms, cars and a boat, can you sell them ?

Yes. we can sell any vehicle. Firearm sales are handled by our contract dealer for small fee.

Should I donate anything before the sale ?

We discourage donating anything, however, any garbage, broken & soiled items should be thrown away. Any food could be donated to food banks etc, refrigerators and freezers should also be cleaned out. There are situations where it is an overwhelming task and we can also handle complete clean outs.

I have family that still wants items inside the house ?

Family heirlooms, photos etc should be removed before the sale. We ask any items not part of the sale be removed at least two weeks prior to sale set up.

How long does it take to set up ?

Estate sales typically take 1-2 weeks depending on size, on site auctions usually 1 week.

I paid a lot for my furniture and I want "good money" for it ...

The current market for furniture is some what challenging unless its mid century modern. You will usually get 10-20% of the what paid. That is the same for antiques, china and old glassware.

I want to be at the sale to make sure everything goes OK ...

Estate sales are not garage sales, we have a process we follow in conducting and managing the sale on multiple levels which is what you're paying for. In addition it can be difficult watching items be sold.

I have expensive jewelry and art that I want top dollar for...

We can assist with appraisals for any jewelry, art, coins or getting signed/autographed items authenticated. Most jewelry you will get 30-50% of appraised value depending on what it is. Artwork and other collectibles will be accessed based on sales records and relevant info.

What if items are left over after the sale ?

We can assist with clearing the house thru groups we work with. Sometimes there might a final clean out fee.

What about insurance and licenses ?

We are licensed, bonded and insured. As part of our contract a current homeowners policy needs to be current.
